Enough Already

'Enough Already' is a space to hold artwork and activities that represent what that particular phrase means to you - think "I am... I've done... I've had.... enough already".

The exhibition encourages laughter, empowerment, self-reflection and thought-provoking art. It is a showcase for creatives who want to step outside of their comfort zones to tell their own stories of boundary-setting, and can represent the situation or events that led up to saying 'enough already' or what happened after you said it.

The exhibition is a call to action to encourage YOU to think about where saying 'enough already' could help you to change even tiny things in your life, for the benefit of YOU, and therefore others.

Expect to hear visitors saying "yes, exactly!" and "OMG I feel the same way!" as you spend time in the exhibition space, and perhaps take a resolution or two away for yourself to act upon.

How to apply Details

Email to the_van_and_me@yahoo.com

Deadlines

The deadline will be 21st May - no work will be accepted after that date as the exhibition has to be planned

Workshops or Events

There will be 2 activities for visitors to engage with if they choose. The first is a full length mirror which will have face shapes on it and canvases above so visitors can look in the mirror and say to themselves (or out loud)......I've had enough already, I've done enough already or I am enough already. The second activity will be a table full of paper and pens with a 'postbox' in the middle for people to write their own thoughts about setting boundaries and what 'enough already' has meant to them. I'm planning to write an anthology of inspiring stories and people can submit their email address if they'd like me to contact them about being in the book.

about the curator:

Ruth Drury

I've always been creative and been soothed by nature and colour. Harnessing my creativity has helped me heal from many of life's knocks, and is my happy place (along with my campervan). I've had trouble believing in myself and believing I could achieve great things and flitted about in life, living all over the place and immersing myself in interesting things (for short periods!). I've tried all the crafts and creative avenues going - but rarely committed to any of them for fear of not being able to achieve perfection. Instead of beating myself up for this, I've now said 'enough already' and know that what I do is enough, what I am is enough, and that I've had enough of shaping myself to what the world expects. No more! So now I just create what I want, when I want, where I want and how I want. This is the first time I will have EVER shown my work in public so here goes......!

Why did you want to get involved with SWAF26?

To see how people resonated with the idea of saying 'enough already'. To see if others could use their creative skills to tell their story. To connect with the community and offer something of value, and inspiration, that might just help someone put a boundary in place and say 'enough already'. If it helps one person change the track their life is on, then it's been worth it. I've not lived here very long but slowly I'm becoming part of a community which feels good, SWAF is a new community for me within that.
